Centers and Grants

National Center for Developmental Education (NCDE)

The National Center for Developmental Education provides instruction and training, research, and services consistent with the missions of the Reich College of Education and Appalachian State University. These activities are provided to a statewide and national audience of professionals who work with underprepared college students. [site]

North Carolina School Health Training Center (NCSHTC)

The North Carolina Comprehensive School Health Training Center is committed to strengthening the quality of Health Education within a coordinated school health program. The Training Center provides programs throughout the state for teachers, nurses, counselors, nutritionists, administrators, and public health educators to reduce health-risk behaviors in children and adolescents. Projects and Partnerships

Appalachian State Public School Partnership (ASPSP)

The Appalachian/Public School Partnership includes the school systems from Alexander, Allegheny, Ashe, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Watauga, and Wilkes Counties. This partnership is designed to foster collaborative relationships among the college, university, and public schools in the region. The Partnership strives to address common educational issues and problems and has a number of activities and resources that support teachers, students, and administrators. [site]

Adult Basic Skills Professional Development Project (ABSPD)

Through extensive training programs and materials, ABSPD provides a professional development structure upon which all North Carolina community college Basic Skills instructors can build a successful literacy program. It is estimated that the ABSPD Project's two Summer Institutes impact over 8,000 ABS instructors annually. [site]
