College of Education building dedication Aug. 18- ASU will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new College of Education building Thurs, Aug 18, at 4pm. Guided tours of the building will follow the formal ceremony. [more]
Darcy Grimes is Teacher of the Year- Third-grade teacher Darcy Grimes of Bethel Elementary was selected for the honor from among the nine school-wide Teachers of the Year in the Watauga County Schools. [more]
2011 Betty Feezor Scholarship Winner- The 2011 Betty Feezor Scholarship was awarded to Brittany Boggs. As the winner, Brittany receives not only a $3500 scholarship, but also lifelong mentoring as a member of the Feezor "family" of FCS professionals. [more]
Patti Tate named Teacher of the Year- Patti Tate, a Northwestern High School English teacher whose engaging style and passion for literature has won over scores of students, is South Carolina's 46th Teacher of the Year. [more]

Mountaineer Summer Reading Program 2011- Since its beginning in 2007, the program has continued to grow stronger each year, supporting and encouraging literacy among students in first through eighth grades. [more]
ASU professors edit textbook on the virtual classroom- Drs. Amelia Cheney and Robert L. Sanders are editors of a textbook addressing online teaching and learning. [more]

Smith named 2011 Principal of the Year- Cox Mill High School principal Todd Smith was named principal of the year. A 1992 ASU graduate, Smith began his career at West Charlotte High School as a social studies teacher and coach. [more]
