The first recipient of the Legacy of a Lifetime Scholarship received their award at a reception honoring the scholarship established by Dr. Renee' Evans. Paul Stoltzfus was honored in front of a crowd of 25 guests, which included the Dean of Students, Susie Green, and Dean of the Reich College of Education, Dr. Charles Duke.
The scholarship is the result of the vision of Dr. Evans, who envisioned a scholarship that would aid former Appalachian athletes in their pursuit of a graduate degree in counseling related fields. Stoltzfus, a former cross country and track athlete for the Mountaineers, is pursuing a degree in College Student Development and aspires for a career in athletic advising. Appalachian's own Jean Roberts serves in that capacity here and is currently serving as a valuable mentor for Stoltzfus.
