Reading "A" Level Licensure
The add-on license in Reading consists of 18 hours of coursework:
Reading Content Course Requirement: 15 semester hours
- RE 5100 Teaching Beginning Reading & Writing
- RE 5130 Teaching the Language Arts
- RE 5715 Reading Assessment and Correction
- RE 5725 Practicum in the Clinical Teaching of Reading (RE 5715 is
a prerequisite) - RE 5730 Read & Wr. Inst. For Inter. & Adv. Lrns.
Research Course Requirement: 3 semester hours
- Choose at least one from the following:
- RE 5040 Teacher as Researcher (Same as RES 5040)
- RES 5560 Classroom Assessment (Recommended for most
students)
- RES 5000 Research in Education
Upon completion of the coursework, students must take and pass the PRAXIS Exam for specialty area: Reading.
