Information for Newly Admitted Students: What to Expect
The weeks and months prior to your entering the graduate program involve a lot of planning and coordination, primarily on the part of your advisor and the other faculty and staff listed above. Below is a list of events/activities for which you should be prepared:
Approximate Time Frame |
Event/Activity |
What You Need to Do |
Mid to Late March (Fall Admissions) |
Notification of Admission |
Respond in writing (email is acceptable) your intention to attend ASU |
Late April or Late November |
Academic Schedule Planning |
You may be contacted by your advisor for clarification on coursework you've already taken and/or preferences about electives and practicum in the schools. You will receive information in the mail from the registrars office about registration and from your advisor regarding which courses for which you should register. |
Early August or Early December |
If the graduate school has received all necessary paperwork (including official notification that your undergraduate degree is complete) you may register during early registration. Otherwise, you can register during the registration period in January or August. Don't worry, all your classes have space reserved for you. |
|
Days Prior to Beginning of Term |
Orientation |
The Communication Disorders Program conducts its own mandatory orientation session during the two days prior to registration (you will receive a letter notifying you of the precise dates/times/location for your orientation). The graduate school also conducts an orientation but since it often conflicts with ours, you should plan to attend the CDP orientation. |
January or August |
Be sure to register for the courses specifically identified by your advisor. |
