Procedures for enrolling for the add-on certification for Reading Education

Review the requirements for the add-on certification for Reading Education.

Contact the coordinator of the Reading Education program and express your interest in applying for the add-on program (trathenwr@appstate.edu).

If you decide you want to apply to our program for an add-on certificate, send a letter requesting that we initiate an application for you: include your name, address, and tell us what area your current teaching license is in. You will need to send us a copy of your current teaching license and copies of all transcripts with reading classes to be considered for your licensure. We will review your transcripts and determine a program of study for you. (Note: Since our courses are graduate level courses, we will only consider counting graduate reading courses that you may have taken.) Send this request, copy of your teaching license, and all transcripts to:

Department of L.R.E.
College of Education
Appalachian State University
Boone, NC  28608

http://www.graduate.appstate.edu/gradstudies/prospective/applications.html

For this you will need: the online application (successfully submitted), the fee, an official/sealed transcript with posted BS/BA degree.

Note: if your intention is to take these courses as part of an off-campus cohort, contact Peri David (davidwp@appstate.edu) in Office of Extension and Distance Education.
