Library Science Program Tracks

Students may enter the Library Science program with any undergraduate major.  There are five (5) program tracks in Library Science at the Master's degree level.  Three lead to the 076 North Carolina Media Coordinator licensure for K-12 school librarians. Those with previous "A" level teacher certification follow a 39 hour master's program.  Students who have never been certified as a teacher pursue the 51 hour master's program to earn degree and “M” level licensure. A third MLS track, ranging from 30-33 hours, is available for students who have previously earned a Master's degree in another educational field.  The fourth track is designed for those seeking North Carolina public librarian certification. A fifth track is designed for students wanting to pursue both School Media licensure and Public library certification.

Blank Program of Study forms can be downloaded from the Graduate School website: http://www.graduate.appstate.edu/forms.html
