The purpose of this program is to prepare persons for teaching or administrative positions serving underprepared remedial/developmental students in colleges and universities. Particular attention is given to the knowledge and skills associated with the developmental needs of academically underprepared students. In addition to the work taken in professional education, students are required to take an eighteen graduate hour concentration in a teaching area or in counseling.

Electives: Electives should be based on student’s career interests and selected with the advice and approval of the graduate advisor to develop an area of specialization. The following areas are suggested: Counseling, Reading, English, Mathematics, Administration, Adult Education, etc.). Students writing a thesis will have 5 elective courses for a total of 15 elective hours. Students not writing a thesis will have six elective courses for a total of 18 elective hours. |
