Two concentrations are available to students in the Appalachian State University Doctoral Program. Individuals holding a Master's or Specialist degree in School Administration who desire the opportunity to obtain North Carolina licensure as district level school leaders pursue the Licensure Concentration. Persons who hold a Master's or Specialist degree in Higher Education and other areas and desire doctoral level preparation in educational leadership pursue the General Concentration. The same core courses in leadership are required in both concentrations, however, there are some exceptions for students who enter the program with an Ed.S in Higher Education.
