"This media literacy certificate is more valuable to me than any other certificate I have ever achieved... The Media Literacy program at ASU was one of the most engaging and educational experiences for me personally... because of the amazing gurus of this field that we were able to meet , learn from and interact with ....but also because of how it raised our spirits and consciousness, while all along, bringing together a group of individuals from diverse backgrounds . It has had a definitive impact on who I am as an instructor and what I want to do with my career"

"We appreciate your leadership and knowledge in this very important field. ..We had little idea of how much we would grow , both as parents and educators, when we started this project. Embarking on this journey has had profound effects on the way we understand the benefits and consequences which media has on us and our children"

Energetic debate among students at NYC class.

Students who attended the summer class in New York City had plenty of praise for the process, people and venue

"This was an opportunity of a lifetime " wrote Carol. 'Both instructors presented intensive informative workshops which promoted discussion and debate among us all. Because we shared living space, conversations spontaneously and frequently ..broke out. We all had the time and opportunities to initiate, develop and extend ideas, concepts and information. We studied, talked, debated, laughed [ my stomach muscles hurt from all the laughing]- and we cried when we had to take our leave of new and old friends and colleagues. As a fantastic bonus, we were also in the midst of one of the most fabulous cities in the U.S"

Nicki agreed, writing: "This incredible experience captured the very heart and soul of media literacy- be creative, be flexible, be open to learning. What an unforgettable opportunity to explore, experience and discover the joys of learning". Like many of the students, who took the class, Nicki experienced an emotional let-down after the event was over. Fortunately email allows this family and community of media literacy schools to stay in touch with each other no mater where we are in the world. Care to join us?

Pauline Sisters share the role for media literacy in their mission during our NYC class.

"Thanks..I feel that this class like the others I have taken ,has made me a better teacher..I have just finished showing A.I. in my Science and Society class and I feel like, because of this class, I had a better understanding of the film and did a better job helping my students understand it as well. The textbook has been very useful to me ..I had one student yesterday who told me he had never analyzed a film before and he wanted to do more of that type of work for his final project"

"I want to take a moment to send a personal note to you for your involvement in the recent Media Education conference at U.T.-Austin. We left before we were personally able to thank you. ...My co-worker and I were quite stimulated by your lectures and we talked at length about the experience during our long drive home .I am certain that the concepts will find their way into our thoughts in the coming weeks as we synthesize them further"
[David. Dallas, TX]

"I just wanted to let you know how much my teaching practice has changed [for the better] because of what you taught me in this class. ..At this very moment I am teaching the "Fly Away Home" move guide that I made in your class. I have added some more Language Arts components as you recommended. The kids love it! Sooo many skills are taught through this guide...I wanted to let you know the impact of your class on me -one teacher that now has an impact on 54 5th graders"
