Grade-Level and ELL Conference
WHAT: A conference for all beginning 1st year teachers in our partnership districts and our graduates who are 1st year teachers in other districts
9 a.m. until 12 noon - Grade-level specific presentations by master teachers (Pre-K to Grade 8)
12 noon until 1 p.m. - Lunch on your own
1 p.m. until 4 p.m. - ELL presentations
Group 1 - PreK through Grade 2
Group 2 - Grade 3 through 12
WHEN: August 1, 2008
WHERE: Edwin-Duncan Hall - Assemble at 9 a.m. in Octagon, Room 03
WHY: Beginning teachers will be given specific suggestions/strategies related to the grade level they will be teaching in the upcoming school year.
Morning sessions: Information presented will include the issues related to the grade level, methods of successfully dealing with those issues (e.g. classroom management, EOG tests, etc.), and various strategies and suggestions that will provide the beginning teachers with a toolbox of ideas relative to the grade level.
Afternoon sessions: Information presented will assist beginning teachers in understanding the needs of second language learners and in developing strategies to effectively teach English language learners.
