Uberto Price served Appalachian from 1955 until his retirement in 1982 as a faculty member, Director of Reading Services, and Chair of the Department of Reading. His expertise and experience in the field earned him the title of “Mr. Reading.”
The Uberto Price Endowment for Reading Education has hit the $50,000 mark this year! As the endowment reaches this important milestone, our goal is to raise another $50,000 to secure Price’s legacy here at Appalachian and double the number of scholarships currently available to our graduate students. Monies also support the annual symposium and allow for symposium participants to attend at no cost. The Uberto Price Reading and Language Arts Symposium celebrated its 37th year in 2006.
