Specialist Programs
Higher Education (Ed. S.)
This degree program provides advanced graduate work beyond the M.A. degree for professionals in the area of postsecondary education. This degree is for individuals interested in advancing their careers, preparing for a doctoral program, or expanding their professional area to include one of four concentrations. Students must select one of the following concentrations: Administration (455B), Adult Education (455C), Developmental Education (455D), or Teaching (455E).
Educational Administration (Ed. S.)
This degree program provides extended knowledge of a systematic perspective of the administration of public schools. The focus is to prepare for higher levels of educational administrative responsibility, typically in specialized positions in central office administration. This degree leads to sixth-year licensure.
School Psychology (Ed. S.)
(offered through the Department of Psychology)
The School Psychology program is fully accredited by NCATE/NASP and by the NC Department of Public Instruction. The program is multidisciplinary and is designed to prepare graduates who are able to use their knowledge in the areas of psychology, education, and counseling to address the needs of children and adolescents in schools. Students are trained to provide comprehensive school psychological services, including psycho-educational assessment and intervention planning, consultation and problem solving, in-service education, individual and group counseling, program development and evaluation, and applied research.
